Best Answer

Diamond saw cut more than a steel saw because diamond blade saw is specially design to do a hardcore job specially in the construction field. The teeth of the diamond blade is made of fabricated diamond to hold hard jobs of cut. And different kinds of diamond blade saw can do different kinds of jobs depends on the material you use compare of steel saw.

ANDIt is not the design of the saw that gives it the ability to cut anything. It is the fact:

Diamonds are the hardest material known

A diamond blade does not actually cut. Instead, it grinds. They have rectangular teeth (segments) which contain diamond crystals on the tip of each segment for grinding through very hard materials.

What is the only metal that cuts diamond?

Professional diamond cutters use a mallet and diamond-tipped, hardened steel chisel to cleave a diamond along its natural plane, or use a diamond-tipped saw to remove unwanted material from a rough stone. In either case, it's not the metal that cuts the diamond, it's the diamond tips: only a diamond can 'cut' a diamond. Read more about cutting diamonds, below.

What can be used to cut metals and other gemstones due to its hardness?

Diamond is very hard, but hard materials also tend to be brittle. You can scratch a hammer with a diamond, which demonstrates that diamond is harder than steel. However, if you hit the diamond with the hammer in the right fashion, the diamond would likely break. Since diamonds are very hard to cut, special diamond bladed edges are used to cut them. Diamonds are prepared using several different cutting and forming methods. They can be broken along natural planes of weakness in the the crystalline structure using a hammer and steel chisel. A diamond or laser can be used to make a scratch on the diamond, which is then broken with a hammer and steel chisel - a concept not unlike cutting glass. Saw blades impregnated with diamond dust on the cutting edge and lasers can also be used to cut a diamond. Diamond powder is used to polish diamonds.

What can't a saw go through?

A saw cant go through crystalA back saw usually cannot cut through diamond due to its Moh's hardness of 10, but keep in mind that diamonds may shatter from the vibrations of the saw.ANS 2 -Most saws are made to cut through woods or metals. Of course there are many harder materials, and each of these has it's own particular cutters. You cannot expect a wood cutting saw to go through steel or stone. Special saws for these materials are made - hacksaws for steel and diamond tipped saws for stone.
