This is true, A literal reading of a passage does mean taking it at face value instead of figuratively. While literal refers to something that actually happens, figurative refers to something that is metaphorical. An example is 'He is so mad that he is foaming at the mouth.' This is a figurative statement because the person is not actually 'foaming at the mouth'.

i own one yes they are but they can be extremely nasty little dogs as terriers are dominant and often old people cant cope with them they need a very firm hand they are often worse that large dogs because they are so tempermental i do not recommend one if you have children. An addendum to the above answer: I have a West Highland White Terrier that is nearly 3 years old. He has been through obedience school, and has been widely exposed to other dogs and people, including children. Although the books I have read have always recommended only getting Westies if you have older children, my Westie loves babies, even if they are on my lap. It probably depends on the dog. I think, however, your questioned pertained to the size of the dog. Yes, they are a small breed of dog, and are supposed to be between 10-20 lbs, depending on the sex. If you get one, I'd recommend taking them for training, and socializing them with people and other dogs very young.

Because a guy went to college at Oxford when he graduated high school and his parents had a dog who was a mastiff. In the guy's third year of college, his parents called him to tell him the dog had died but his phone was turned off and in his dorm room so he never got it and they had to leave a message. When he got back to his dorm that day, his bible was dog-eared to Genesis chapter 2 and sitting on top of his microwave in which he had cooked sausages yesterday and it still stunk because it turned out the sausages were bad but thankfully he had noticed the blue fuzz before he actually ate any. Well, the guy saw his phone sitting on the counter--next to the microwave which still smelled like old sausage--he turned his phone on to charge it and he saw he had a voicemail so he listened to it and then started crying so he was late for a study hall. Now you're probably wondering what this story has to do with a west highland terrier. Well, the dog breeder--that his parents got the mastiff puppy from when he was 7--actually got a mastiff female from a rescue shelter in their neighborhood before they moved their location. After they moved location, the husband of the woman who actually ran the pet store called her on a Friday--and by the way they were responsible and not a puppy mill--to tell her that the mastiff they had gotten was pregnant. Right after the woman hung up, she had to take the west highland terrier puppies for a walk. Now, this was exactly a year before the parents even arrived at the pet store to buy the mastiff puppy, and one of the west highland terrier puppies she was taking for a walk was, unbeknownst at the time to the woman who ran the pet store, sick from eating sausage that he had snatched from her breakfast sandwich which she had left out that morning and had gotten stale by the time he got the sausage out of it. Creepy, huh?
