Why can community assistants not remove totally useless categories from the Wikianswers category tree?

We have a process that we go through to decide which categories to add and remove. If it is decided that a category is not needed, the proper people remove it. It is that way because if all CAs were adding and removing categories, the category tree would be a mess, which would reflect poorly on the site.

Who adds new categories to WikiAnswers?
Community Assistants add the categories to WikiAnswers. However, anyone can suggest categories to be created. If you are interested in starting a new category on WikiAnswers, please fill out the form linked below. Include the following: your username; the name of the category you're requesting, as well as the reason you're requesting it; and the category under which it should be placed. And, if possible, please also include a 2-3 sentence description for the category. Or, you can go to the "Suggestion Box" on the Community Forum and add a new post there under the thread called "New Category" (see Related link below). You have to sign in to WikiAnswers to see the "Community Forum" link. Everything can fit in a possible category, even aliens!
How long does it take for a requested category to be set up on WikiAnswers?
It may take a few days for your category request to be approved and added by a Community Assistant onto WikiAnswers. Community Assistants are very busy on the whole of WikiAnswers, but will try to sort out the category request ASAP. For the most chance of getting a category added remember to include in the email where it would be placed and if there are sufficient questions to fill it (we look for 50+ questions in the category before making it, however exceptions can be made).
Does WikiAnswers email you back after you have emailed them about a new category?
It is not guaranteed you will receive a personal response to emails sent to WikiAnswers community advisors and assistants. You can also email support @ answers.com with any additional questions. To request a new category, fill out the form linked below.
Are category Supervisors restricted to supervising only their categories on WikiAnswers?
No, not in the least. All WikiAnswers Supervisors have the same influence in every category. Category Supervisors usually spend more time in their respective categories, but are in no way restricted to where they can contribute.
Who approves and edits category descriptions?
Generally, Community Assistants approve and edit category descriptions. If you see a category without a description, you can e-mail your suggested category description to categories @ wikianswers.com (no spaces). In the subject line please specify your username and the number of category descriptions included in your e-mail.
Why isn't head injuries in the categories for Wikianswers?
If you want a head injuries category in WikiAnswers why not suggest it on the Community Forum? To get to the Community Forum look at the blue side navigation bar. It would be under the My Pages Section. I will also include a related link that goes directly there.
Where is the Jokes category on WikiAnswers?
There is no specific 'Jokes Category' on WikiAnswers. But there are two categories called the 'Humor and Amusemet Corner' and 'The Most Amusing Questions Ever Asked On WikiAnswers' where you can post cheesy questions or silly, but not inappropriate questions. How many senior supervisors are there on WikiAnswers as of April 2012?
There are currently 31 Senior Supervisors in the Super community. You can find their names attached to the top level categories on the category tree.
How do you become a Category Supervisor in more categories?
By consistently answering questions and contributing to the growth of the category and the wikianswers community. First concentrate on one category and gain the trust of senior members of the community. Once senior members are satisfied with your contributions, they would offer you the supervisor option for any category that you are an expert in. This way you can become a category super. Remember: Becoming a super is no joke. It comes with a lot of responsibilities and you will become one among the hundreds of dedicated wikianswers community members who strive to keep the website in top shape.
How long does it take for a category description to be reviewed?
When you submit a category description, it is emailed to a WikiAnswers Community Assistant who reviews and edits it. Most descriptions will be live on the site within a week of submitting them.
