Horses get fat on grass when they eat too much or it. Grass is the primary food they were designed to eat. It has all the nutrients and calories they need. Overeating makes everyone fat.

Well, it is actually kind of strange, because if you are talking about horse manure, horses mainly eat grass and grass isn't stinky. But then again, who knows what else horses may eat? I guess when grass is mushed up inside their body it will change it's odour?! Why did you want to know anyway? Do you have BO?
grass and Grass is not a big diet. Horses and donkeys do enjoy grazing on the grass but not as a meal unless they are wild. You can give Alfalfa, barley, and other hay products. Remeber that horses(not sure about donkyes) do not like hay. Also for a side food that helpes your horse het weight give them pellets mixed with hot water, perfect for those cold winters!
they are very big horses

Gypsy Vanner Horses are cart horses. They have good temperaments but are big! They are good for inexperienced riders but I would personally recommend a Quarter Horse. I grew up riding them since I was 3 and they are still my favorite. Goodluck :)
