Can plants feel?

Sentience is the capacity to feel, perceive, or experience subjectively. Although plants can react to stimuli, these reactions do not constitute sentience because plants lack pain receptors, sensory organs, and a central nervous system to process sensations. Animals are able to consciously perceive their environment and consciously respond with many different behaviors to it. Plants lack this variability of response, in that they will react in the same manner regardless of different scenarios. For example, they will grow towards a light source whether they are outdoors and reacting to the path of the sun or indoors reacting to a stationary window or electric light bulb.Animals have evolved sentience because pain can help them to avoid harmful stimuli and pleasure can help them to seek and find beneficial stimuli. Plants have not evolved sentience because it doesn’t benefit them. Plants have no way to move away from drought, deluge, heat, or cold.

What happens if a nerve cell is damaged?

Damage to the nervous system can be very long term. It all depends on where the damage occurs. If at the spinal cord, the muscles may not respond. If in the brain, perhaps sight will be lost. Death can occur if the brain is damaged.

What parts of the body does the central nervous system effect?

the CNS is the Brain and the Spinal cord which send and receive signals via the peripheral nervous system (all nerves outside the spinal cord)So, pretty much everything really:anything which has voluntary muscular controlsome organs, including heart, lungstemperature across the body is controlled by the hypothlamus, part of the brainthe autonomic nervous system is part of the peripheral nervous system and controls glands including sweat glands, adrenal glands, salivary glands (basically most things which result in things being secreted), sexual excitation, taste and various other miscellaneous phenomena (i.e i cant remember)but it could be argued, by being aware of these things (via consciousness which is generated in the CNS) the CNS indirectly controls these too(you sweat more when nervous, you behave differently when sexually aroused which would lead (hopefully) to being further aroused...etc

Why cant i fully control the movement of my penis?

Because your penis is controlled by your autonomic nervous system, not by conscious thought. You also do not fully control the eating of your heart. The autonomic nervous system is a division of the peripheral nervous system that supplies smooth muscle and glands, and thus influences the function of internal organs. The autonomic nervous system is a control system that acts largely unconsciously and regulates bodily functions such as the heart rate, digestion, respiratory rate, pupillary response, urination, and sexual arousal.

How does the skeletal System interact with the Nervous System?

The skeletal system helps mobilize the body by providing attachment sites for the muscles; producing levers. The nervous system tells the skeletal muscles what do do. So, by controlling the muscles, the nervous system indirectly interacts with the skeletal system. i agree with that because i know the nervous system does do that that was a good answer. but do you know when you grow real old and your bones cant stand up any longer you get osteperosis i love the sketetal but i dont agree. with her answer because my grandmother is really really old older than you can imagine and she has healthy bones she does not have osteoperosis so i don't agree.
