What does frequent yawning mean?

Most likely because you're tired or really, really bored. Have you ever noticed yourself yawning at those times? It's usually because you start to breathe slowly when you're tired or bored, and not enough oxygen gets to the brain. So, the best way to get that air, is to take a deep breath, which is known commonly as a yawn.

Why do you feel the need to yawn constantly even though you are not tired and most of the time you can't get a full yawn out or a deep breathe in?

I have also been having the same problem for the past three days. It's not the first time that it has happened and I think only those of us who have experience this can really understand what it feels like. It's not asthma. It's really a great need to take a deep breath, but can't do it without yawning. And the yawning can take some time to accomplish and you kind start to panic a bit when the yawning it's not coming. When I am having problem yawning, I have to stand up and maybe even stick my head out the window to get fresh air and finally I am able to yawn. I don't know why this happens but I am here to tell you what I did last night that helped. I used a nasal spray. The kind you use to relieve a stuffy nose. And it helped. Today I have been having the same feeling of wanting to take a deep breath. The only difference is that I was able to do it without having to yawn. What a great relief. I don't normally like to use nasal sprays. I only spray last night and I have been good for the past 20 hours. I wonder if this problem is caused by problem in our nasal passage???? Another possibility to consider is anxiety. I suffer from anxiety attacks - often lasting weeks - that make my chest feel tight and make it difficult to yawn. Is there something you are stressed about? Or are you overdoing caffeine? Sometimes, it's caused by a chemical imbalance (as in my case). You might want to see your doctor just in case.

What does yawning do?

When you yawn, its because you're a little inactive. When youre not doing anything, you breathe slowly, not letting enough air get to your lungs. So your brain tells you to take a deep breath, which is what we call a 'yawn' -from Taylor (a 12 year old)
