Why did Moses hold his hands when the isrealites were at war?
When Moses held up his hands, the isrealites won. When Moses did not hold up his hands, then the isrealites were defeated. Holding up your hand is a symol of asking God for help. It shows the people that God would give them great victory. Their own strength would not be able to let them win, but believing in God will.
Did Moses make any bad decisions?
Yes. One of Moses' biggest errors in leading Isreal was when God was providing water to the Isrealites. God told Moses to speak to a rock, and that it would become a spring. Moses instead hit the rock with his staff, attempting to show off a bit. Because of this, Moses was not allowed into the Promised Land. He died and was buried on the outskirts. This story is in Numbers 20:2-13.
