People would immigrate to the us to start over, get a new job, economic opportunities. A lot of immigrants came through Ellis island. They had to learn a new language. they had to learn new costumes or new skills for a job. a lot of times they went to live with relatives if they had any or if possible they would try to move to people from there own country.
