The Colonists rose up against the British and the French seen this as a good time for revenge. The Patriot army was also lacking a navy that could contend with the technologically superior British Navy. The French fought mostly at sea against the British but did fight in some land battles. One of the reasons is that the British and French both claimed some of the same land. Reason two is that the British began to trade with the Indians on French territory.
