The British Parliament was taxing the colonists more that the British citizens because they weren't British anymore. The colonists didn't think that was fair and so they decided to get revenge by dumping the British tea into the harbor.

because the colonists were tired of taxes and being treated unfair . they hated that England was making laws with out their say. also the taxes were being put on them like crazy and they needed to fight back in some way.
