There is no information in the Corduroy book that tells why Corduroy only has one button. Corduroy himself did not know that he only had one button until Lisa's mother said she would not buy Corduroy because he was missing a button.
Corduroy the Bear has two buttons on his corduroy overalls because there are two straps on the overalls. The buttons are used to attach the straps to the overalls so they stay up. The buttons also make the overalls easy to take off and put on.
In the beginning of the Corduroy book, Corduroy only has one button on one shoulder strap of his pants. Corduroy tries to find the missing button. The next day, a girl buys Corduroy, takes him home, and sews a button on his other shoulder strap.
Yes they are buttons because buttons are the only thing that holds the straps of the overalls.
Corduory The Bear only wears green corduroy overalls with two white buttons.
because buttons are the only thing that holds the straps of the overalls.

Yes because buttons are the only thing that holds the straps of The overalls.
Where do you live? How hot is it at the end of spring. I live in Montreal, Canada. Corduroy is usually ok up to the end of Spring. Except for corduroy shorts, i say corduroy is too hot for July and August. In June, if the temperature is more than 70-72 degrees, it is not appropriate unless your are talking about fine wale corduroy. From May to September, corduroy is fine and great except for an exceptionally hot day. I never wear corduroy when it is more than 72 degrees. I wear corduroy the rest of the time. In Winter only, 8 wale corduroy. Autumn and Spring, medium or narrow wale corduroy only.
Yes, besides Polar Bears, they are the only white bears. (stupid or something?) -.-

Yes, but this is exclusive only to males: only the boar bears produce sperm.
