Her Royal Majesty sent them back for more with a few extra settlers. The next time they came back with more furs and maple syrup and since she had a great sweet tooth she sent settlers by the boatload.
Now the French didn't like that much and started taking offense at the incursions by the English. When the English settlers slowed down the shipments of maple syrup and the Queen found out it was because they were too busy arguing about land claims with the French, she sent soldiers, tradesmen and ....well, you get the point. Only some of England moved to Canada and still remains.
