It didn't as English wasn't in existence at that time. English is the fusion of Norman French, Anglo-Saxon and Latin which only began after the arrival of the Normans in 1066.

B. Actually, Old English was spoken in England before the Norman invasion. However, as the Duke of Normandy became King William I of England the French language became the language of the nobles and soon after also the language of the church together with Latin.

The Norman impact of the English language can be found in dictionaries where numerous words originating from the French language occurs.

Is English necessary in day to day life?

No it isn't. Many people in the world do not speak English and they survive. In countries where English is the main language, then it is important. Even in those countries, people who have no English can survive. Lots of them never learn English and rely on others to help them. Some people, such as people who are deaf, dumb and blind, survive in English speaking countries while having no English themselves. So it is certainly not necessary to have English for day to day life.

Does India needs English education or not?

This is a somewhat ironic question, since it is posted in English on an English web-site. It is apparent that you do have some use for the English language, since you are using it. I might compare this to asking on this web-site if the world is in need of computers. That said, no doubt India could survive without the English language; it has many languages of its own (Hindustani, Bengali, Gujarati, and so forth). English is, however, clearly a useful language to know.
