Herd Immunity. Europeans were around people who have had European diseases (in various stages of recovery). When you get small doses of a disease, your body can start working on getting rid of it, perhaps without you getting the full symptoms. If you have never been around a disease your body has to start from "scratch" and learn it.
Diseases that were brought to the Americas from Europe. Americans had no immunities from those diseases. What would make a European mildly sick would kill people that had no resistance at all.
Hitler did not kill the Europeans he killed the Jew's. Thoguh Hitler would have killed any European in Germany that did not agree with him.
The Europeans carried deadly diseases into America killing most of the native population. The most deadly of these diseases were typhus, measles, Bubonic Plague, malaria, and smallpox. In the early 1700s, smallpox wiped out half the Cherokee. In the early 1800s, it wiped out two-thirds of the Omaha and all the Mandan people. Smallpox killed at least half of the west native population.
Native Americans were more likely to die from the diseases that European settlers brought to America because they had less immunity to these diseases than the settlers did.
90%
Well Europeans came to America thinking no one had discovered that there was land there and that there were no inhabitants, but the Native Americans were here. So in discovering that there were people there, the Europeans tried to take their land from them by killing them. But there were ultimately too many to kill all of them, so they assigned them to reservations, and sold all their land to European settlers. So now there aren't very many Native Americans left due to the settlers greed :)
95% of Native Americians died from European disease if this was the right or wrong answer tell me at bantonshavone@yahoo.com
The flu killed the Native Americans because the disease had never introduced to them. When it came to them so suddenly it was deadly. The Native Americans hadn't built up there immune system to be able to defend the diseases that were brought by Christopher Columbus and his crew.
There were many reasons, some are; that the Europeans brought over many diseases (this also affected all Natives, not just the Beothuk) , also the Europeans took over their main hunting area, Norte Dame Bay. The NFLD government also hired another Native group to kill them off.
When the Europeans came over some of them were infected with some diseases. The diseases didn't make the Spaniards very sick because they had built up immunity over time, but the Native Americans has never come in contact to these diseases so they had no defenses. So an illness that would gave only given the conquistador a runny nose may very kill the Mayan. On a side note: this occurred to the Europeans as well. The crew of Christopher Columbus are credited for introducing syphilis to Europe after they contracted in the new world.
