  1. What were the goals? Were those goals unreasonable? Were they considering those goals in relationship to other GM divisions when they decided to eliminate the Saturn nameplate?
  2. Look out on any US highway. How many of those vehicles are Saturns? Saturn is a fine vehicle; it made a great competitor to the foreign vehicles that have been flooding the US market and taking jobs away from American workers.
  3. Saturns changed considerably when GM started gluing the Saturn nameplate on components that were manufactured in other divisions. The LS2 "Saturn" actually contained an engine that was used in both the Cadillac and the Opal.
  4. Saturn was originally the vehicle with the highest US content. It changed when GM mandated that those foreign components be used on the Saturns. Saturn lost a significant number of loyal owners when those foreign components were included in the Saturn manufacturing process.

Saturn had been a great experiment. GM made a mistake in attempting to micromanage the Saturn project and force Saturn to use other components.

Saturn was responsible for some impressive innovations.

Saturns were one of the most reliable, economical and innovative vehicles to come out of Detroit for a long time. I, for one, miss them already.
