Why did Germany choose to become involved In the Spanish civil?

There were two major reasons that Nazi Germany took an active role in assisting the Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War. The first major reason was that the Nationalists in Spain wee trying to implement a fascist government, which would be ideologically similar to the Nazi German government (which was also fascist). The second major reason is that the Spanish Civil War would provide experience and war-training for the new Nazi German war-machine and its new military technologies. In particular, Nazi Germany took many opportunities to test its modern Luftwaffe or Air-Force by bombing key Republican strongholds like Basque town of Guernica, even where civilian casualties would be extremely high. The bombing of Guernica was immortalized in the painting of the same name by Pablo Picasso.
