God gave the city of Nineveh 40 days to repent before He planned to destroy them. However, the people of Nineveh repented of their sins, and as a result, God showed them mercy and did not carry out the destruction.
It was based on the old Testament. It was 40 days that Noah stayed in the arch and also 40 days that Nineveh repented to the Lord at the time of Prophet Jonah..

I'm not completely sure what your question is...but Jonah, once he finally arrived in his preaching assignment, was required to proclaim the destruction of Nineveh in '40 days', unless they repented. They did, and the destruction was averted for a time.(Jonah 3:4+5)
He most likely returned to Israel shortly after delivering his prophecy. Note also that Nineveh was not destroyed as soon (40 days) as Jonah had prophesied. This is because the Ninevites repented fully (Jonah ch.3), at least for a time.See also:More about Jonah's prophecy
The questionis not clear, yes Moses was on mount Sinai for 40 days with God.
No it is not possible as God promised that he would not let it rain for 40 days and 40 nights.
Moses spent a total of 40 days and 40 nights on top of Mount Sinai talking and hearing God.
God sent the rain in order to destroy all creation that was not in the ark.
