Graystripe killed Darkstripe to protect Firestar, as Darkstripe was a traitor working for Tigerstar and attempting to harm Firestar. Graystripe recognized the threat Darkstripe posed and took action to ensure the safety of his leader and Clan.

Darkstripe attemps to kill Sorrelkit with deathberries. He was on Tigerclaw's side and tried to kill Firestar many times. During the battle with BloodClan, Darkstripe tries once more to kill Firestar, but Graystripe killed him first.
