In 1844, Araminta Ross (who took the name Harriet) had married a free black man, John Tubman. After several failed attempts to win her freedom, she escaped Maryland with her two brothers in September, 1849. Unfortunately, the brothers soon returned to their owners because of family concerns, and she was again under her original owner. She then escaped on her own later that year, but secretly returned again to Maryland several times to help her family and others to escape.

Harriet Tubman was tired of being a slave, and wanted to be free. She ran away. Before she did, her father taught her how to walkquietly in the woods, and if the moon wasn't shining, she would follow the moss on the trees. She then was being tracked by her slave master with his whip, and tracker dog. Harriet never got caught. She then brought other slaves to the Free Land. And she even brought her brothers, sisters, mother, and farther with her.

She was born in to slavery and was treated awfully so if someone was being extremely rude and violent to you then wouldn't you leave to? If it was me I would have tried to do the same thing to.
