The overriding ambition of Henry VIII was to produce a son and heir.
His first wife, Catherine of Aragon gave him a daughter, Mary (later Queen Mary)
His second wife, Anne Boleyn, also produced a daughter, Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth I
His third wife, Jane Seymour, gave him a son, Edward, later Edward VI of England.
Jane died just two weeks after his birth, and Edward died at the young age of 15.
The other factor which influenced Henry's decisions was his battle with the catholic church. He was determined that his heir would be protestant. Queen Elizabeth certainly was, but she died childless and the Tudor line came to an end.
There is an excellent website :- www.tudorhistory.org/wives
Divorced- Catherine of Aragon because she produced a female and not a male. She had many miscarriages. Also Henry fell in love with Anne Boleyn.
Beheaded- Anne Boleyn was beheaded for Treason, Incest and adultery. That's what they say.
Died- Jane Seymour, died after giving birth.
Divorced- Anne of Cleves, he claimed she had the face of a horse and annulled her.
Beheaded- Catherine Howard, he beheaded her because she had apparently been unfaithful. She was buried next to her cousin Anne Boleyn.
Died- Katharine Parr outlived him!!
Henry VIII was a bad husband for a variety of reasons. Namely, he kept having his wives executed because he became bored with them easily, or became suspicious of them.
he beheaded two and divorced two he was a user
He treated them all at first. But if he didn't get what wanted and needed from them. He got rid of them.
One thing bad about Henry was that he beheaded 1/3 of his wives, and divorced 1/3 of his wives! Another thing is that he had a row with the Pope!
Henry VII wasn't a good defender, and he wasn't a very nice person either. Henry VIII was a good King, and looked after England well, but was a womanizer and wasn't very nice to his wives.
being bad tepered, having 6 wives!! and being quite chubby
He was too bored and busy to do any of the important things and liked ordering people around.
Henry VIII was lustful, selfish, and eventually gluttonous.
Nothing particular.
Henry the VIII was a good king because he set up the church of England and he was a well educated man he also made England a stronger country during the war of the roses However Henry was also a bad king because he destroyed all ministries and nunneries he also killed many of his wives. Henry also took money from the church and spent it on himself
An heir.
Partly because he was a spoilt and horrible man, but also because he was sensitive about not having a son in the early part of his life. Later, he suffered from many illness that brought on dark moods.
Henry VIII owned a number of churches, not to mention that he was also buried in one when he died of really bad leg ulcers. But in total he owned about 555 churches.
Here's a scary one you'll remember:- he ate dolphin meat.
