When William Warham, the Archbishop of Canterybury, died, Henry saw an opportunity to put someone in the Archbishopric that would be amenable to annulling his marriage to Catherine. He used his power as King to have Thomas Cranmer, the Archdeacon of Taunton, appointed to the position. Cranmer received the sanction of Pope Clement VII and then proceeded to lead Henry's reformation and split from the Holy Roman Church creating the Church of England. Henry got his divine annulment as well as excommunication for himself and Cranmer. Cranmer was put to death by burning for the crime of heresy in 1556, nine years after Henry's death.

What were the accomplishments of Thomas Becket?

Thomas Becket was the Archbishop of Canterbury. At the same time, King Henry II, who had been Becket's close friend, was trying to increase his own power at the expense of the Church. Becket resisted this and was assassinated in the cathedral during Vespers. Four knights had tried to get him to leave with them, and when he refused, they attacked him with their swords, while he continued to say his prayers. As a result of these acts, King Henry was humiliated and the power of the Church was significantly increased. Becket was a martyr, and the Church soon declared him to be a saint. Pilgrims went to Canterbury to visit the shrine of a saint to had stood up to a king, and this also diminished the stature of the monarchy for centuries, until the Church in England was pretty much overwhelmed by King Henry VIII.

He did not divorce any of his wives. His marriage to his 4th wife; Anne of Cleves, was annulled. His marriage to Catherine of Aragon was annulled by Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury. This marriage was annulled after the Pope continued to delay giving Henry an answer to his petition for an annulment of his marriage with Catherine. He then broke from Rome, and created the Church of England.

How did King Henry get his divorce?

If you mean Henry VIII's divorce from Katherine of Aragon, then it's quite simple. Henry asked the Catholic Church to condone his divorce from Katherine on the grounds that she was his brother's wife first, and he was committing adultery by marrying her. It wasn't, and the Catholic Church told him no. So Henry decided he'd had enough of the Catholic Church and created the Church of England, putting Henry himself as the head of the Church. The new Archbishop of Canterbury, Cranmer, declared Henry's marriage null and void.
