I'm pretty sure that he wanted to divorce his wife, but Catholicism didn't allow him to. So he pronounced himself not Catholic.

How did Henry viii make England protestant?

Anglican Catholic Answer!Henry didn't of course turn England protestant or turn protestant himself. What Henry did, for whatever reason, was to query the right of the papacy to interfere in another bishop's see! Pointing out that whoever did so contravened the Canons of Nicea and broke the basic rules of the Church! To adhere to the rules of the Ecumenical Councils is not to become protestant, to abandon the teaching of the Church is to become a heretic! Henry abandoned no rules or teaching!

Yes, but she is not a direct descendant. The Tudor line passed to the Stewart line, and then in turn passed to the Hanover line, where it remains today (renamed as the House of Windsor).

What changes the relationship between England and the catholic church?

King Henry VIII's mental instability and mania over his sex life and heirs; followed by his daughter, Elizabeth. Up until that time, England had been a very Catholic Christian country, but those two effectively martyred all the good Catholics, disenfranchised future generations of Catholics, and made the practice of Catholic Christianity high treason. They then proceeded to steal all their lands, churches, monasteries, and convents and turn them into protestant churches and houses for the new protestant gentry.

Who was affected when Henry VIII changed the Catholic churches into protestant churches?

Henry did not turn or change the Catholic Church into protestant churches! In the world of the 16th,Cent, to be a protestant was to be a Lutheran! What happened was that the Church in England applied itself to a stricter application of Catholic Dogma, than the Continental Churches! They got rid of recent additions to the Deposit of Faith and medieval intrusions! They did however remain Catholic!Roman Catholic AnswerIn one way or another everyone was affected. The monks and nuns were turned out of their monasteries and all the land confiscated. Any bishops, priests, or lay folk who remained loyal to the Catholic Church lost their money, their lands, and eventually their lives. There were many bold martyrs from this era, especially under Henry VIII, and his daughter, Elizabeth I who, herself, was not particularly religious one way or another but viewed Catholicism as treason, and punished it accordingly. English priests, at the time, were educated in Belgium, in the seminary of Louvain (which still exists), only to return to England to be martyred when caught. It was a very, very sad time for the Church, and to this day all of the Catholic churches are still owned by the Protestants.

What did Henry VIII do to English churches?

he made the priests wear plain robes and took away all decoration and color from the church. there were to be no candles, or even crosses were allowed at services. Henry also ordered for the stained glass windows to be takendown and destroyed. Anglican Catholic Answer! I think you've got the wrong chap, it was Henry's son, Edward VI and his Calvinist friends who ruined the place. Henry supported a theory that went back before the Norman Conquest where authority was held by the Bishops through the Ecumenical Councils, very much as the Orthodox and traditional Anglicans do today! It has been described as Catholic without the pope! Henry did no more and no less, with the support of the Church, than say that the ancient canons of the Councils tell us quite clearly that no bishop is permitted to interfere in another bishops see? This shocked the pope, his support was in Europe and Henry was first to declare against him!
