Jack the Ripper's reasons for discontinuing his murders are unknown. Many theories have been put forth, such as that he committed suicide, that he fled the country, or that he was arrested and/ or institutionalized for other offenses. This last theory is quite probably the most likely.
Although both of these killers had a different MO (modus operandi) they loved to taunt the police and derived much pleasure thinking they were smarter than the authorities.

There were a lot of places were the ripper could hide while making the killing. As far as we know, the ripper killed 5 prostitutes and there was a double event which one could not be a ripper killing. So apart from being a prostitute and drunk in the early hours of the morning, the chances of being attacked by the ripper are minimum.
While 100s of letters claiming to be from Jack the Ripper were given to the authorities, we don't know that any of them were actually written by Jack the Ripper. Some letters are signed "Jack the Ripper," some are signed "Leather Apron" (which is what the murderer was often called before the name "Jack the Ripper" became popular), one is signed "Catch me when you can Mishter Lusk".....On and on and on.In short, no one knows which, if any, was the real signature.There is a book of these letters available if you would like to learn more. Jack the ripper cut up his victims to show the authorities his deeds. Jefrey Dahmer cut his victims in a more horrific manner that the Jack the ripper. He ate parts of their bodies and made things to go with his furniture with victim's parts.
He didn't. Jack The Ripper's crimes continued long after the murder of Mary Jane Kelly on November 9, 1888. Many believe the Ripper was still killing as late as 1891, and possibly after the turn of the 20th century.
