After minor repairs were completed Cook sailed to Batavia, Java for better repairs.Due to the tropical climate, lots of crew members caught fevers. Many died in Batavia or on the return trip to Britain via Cape Town.The Endeavour's remains lay on the seabed of Newport Harbour, Rhode Island.
