The founders of Jamestown wanted money. SO England gave them 4 ships, The nina, the pinta, and the santa maria. The settlers were trying to find gold and silver, but instead they found marshy lands, a lot of mosquito and contaminated water. But, thanks to a very strong leader (captain john smith) helped them survive! So basically they wanted money$$$ silver and gold :)

John Smith started Jamestown and was named Jamestown in honor of King James of England and their goal was to make money and nobody liked John Smith because of his personality and so the crew members locked him up before they even found Jamestown but let John Smith free because the cre knew they needed his survival skills so they landed on marshy land which was bad and home to mosquitoes with a disease called malaria and killed many colonists so John went out in the woods or something and found Indians which locked John up in a prison cell or something so then the chief of the Indians called the Powhatan tribe and the chief sent his daughter named Pocahontas to see him and what's going on with John Smith then the Powhatan tribe were gonna execute John Smith but Pocahontas saved him then later the colonists worked with the Indians and taught each other new things and John Smith was the president and John's motto was to work or dont't eat so if you worked you ate and if you didn't you wouldn't eat and the motto worked and everyone was working and later while John Smith was working one person was burning something and the burn landed on John's gunpowder and John Smith got owned and exploded but he survived and it was severe pain so John had to go back the England and everybody thought John Smith died and they lost their leader but all the colonists and Indians got hungry and it was so bad they called it "The Starving Time" but a man named John Rolfe planted something called TOBACCO and everyone liked it so they sent it to England and everyone like it which made Jamestown rich then Pocahontas married John Rolfe and Pocahontas was kicked out of the Powhatan tribe so John Rolfe and Pocahontas went to England and Pocahontas evolved in to a full England woman then one day Pocahontas became sick and was about to die then suddenly John Smith had to go to Pocahontas before she died and he did and Pocahontas was shocked to see John Smith that she died of amazement! LOL!... JUST KIDDING JK John Smith just saw Pocahontas and she died peacefully... THE END? I guess... Well that's all I know so if you know more you can just edit this I don't care I just did this because of boredom and I was really bored with nothing to do... SOOO um yeah k then...

Jamestown actually started as a business venture. Investors believed that there were profits to be gained in the New World. It took a while, but it turned out to be true.
