Jehovah's Witnesses have been arrested for refusing to break God's laws. They were arrested during the Nazi regime for refusing to join Hitler's army and take up arms against their fellow man. They have also been arrested for refusing to stop preaching the bible and teaching about God's kingdom. Jehovah's Witnesses are law abiding people and, where the law does not conflict with a direct command of God, will always endeavor to respect superior authorities in everyway.
Getting arrested does not mean that a person is guilty of a crime. It doesn't even mean neccessarily that the "crime" they are arrested for is justified. Many of Jehovah's Witnesses are being arrested and detained for the "crime" of preaching about God's Kingdom in countries all over the world. Many are being starved, beaten, young girls are molested by arresting officers, old people are being hit with clubs by so-called police officers, and so forth. This is happening in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Korea, Kazakhstan, and other countries. If you refer to the website www.forum18.org ,and look up Jehovah's Witnesses, you will find a long list of such atrocities commited all over the world, even in countries that supposedly have freedom of religion.
Where the legal obligations of the Government and God conflict, Jehovah's Witnesses follow the precedent set by Peter and other apostles. They said in Acts 5:27-29 "We must obey God as ruler rather than men".
They believe they will.
