Jesus did not begin Christianity, The early followers of Jesus began Christianity

Another View:

So, the answer to the question "Why did Jesus begin Christianity?" is that Christianity was instead started by Paul, in order to salvage his career as a missionary for the Jewish sect that Jesus had started. Paul, in the 17th year of his career was faced with choosing between retaining his members or else repelling them by demanding them to go under the knife in an era which lacked anesthesia, antibiotics and antiseptics. He chose to retain his members, even though he knew that by his abandonment of the Jewish covenant he was teaching the opposite of what Jesus had taught. The authors of the four Gospels were Paul's followers, who manufactured a "Jesus" that embodied Paul's agenda, not the agenda of Jesus.

Jesus did not start christianity! His followers did, men like Peter, James, John, Matthew, and later Paul and Luke. Most of christian theology was not clearly defined until Paul wrote his letters, so some scholars consider Paul the true originator of christianity.

Jesus role in christianity was to be the pure lamb of god, sacrificed on the cross for our sins and resurrected to prove his success in that task and as the healer of our other infirmities. No one else could do this role and he had been selected for this role before any of the creation was begun!

When we accept him as that savior (Christ) he places within us his own faith (see Romans 3:26 check original greek double use of genitive, as most english translations are wrong: "faith/belief in Jesus" should be "of faith of Jesus" or better "faith generated by Jesus"), which carried him through the cross and resurrection and cannot fail, no matter how our own faith may falter.

Christianity is named after Jesus Christ - the Word God and Son of God - came to establish His Church in the New Testament era as a place for the 'ekklesia' or called out ones (the firstfruits) to gather, reinforce each other and develop and learn God's ways with Him in each of them through the begettal process Jesus demonstrated in His human life. They are a 'little flock' and will be the first to rise at Jesus' 2nd Coming to rule with Him during the Millennial Reign and become His eternal 'bride.' During their physical lifetimes of growing, they will do God's good works:

Ephesians 2:4-9New King James Version (NKJV)

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in Hiskindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
