well he was gonna go and reunite w/his father so he told them not to leave town b/c his followers were like telling him "do you have to leaVE us?" then he told them you will receive something special that will never leave u and also that once u get it you will tell the world about me and save them :]
Luke 24:49 - "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." [NKJV]
However, the Day of Pentecost is highly appropriate, in that the original Jewish feast was also known as "Firstfruits," when sacrifices were made from the early spring harvest (Leviticus 23:16, 17).
Jesus is also spoken of as "firstfruits:"
1 Corinthians 15:20 - But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Furthermore, all Christians are said to be a "kind of firstfruits."
James 1:18 - Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
Considering this, it seems fitting that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost, the Feast of Firstfruits, and the first Christians were added to Christ's "newborn" church on that day.
[Quotes from NKJV]
because he was drunk
The disciples are to baptize the people in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The answer to this question is unknown since it is not written specifically in the Bible. The Bible mentions the Holy Spirit but not specifically when we receive it. In Psalm David asks God not to take the Holy Spirit away from him, which means David had The Holy Spirit and was afraid God would take it away. In the New Testament Jesus says to his disciples that He is leaving but will send a 'Helper', this is considered to be the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is about the Disciples receiving The Holy Spirit. So, although the Bible talks about The Holy Spirit, it does not tell us when we receive or why.
Jesus' disciples received the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, 50 days after Jesus' resurrection. The Holy Spirit came upon them as described in the Book of Acts, empowering them for their ministry and enabling them to speak in different languages to spread the message of Jesus.
Once jesus had ascended into heaven , then the holy spirit came to take his place and be our comforter. The holy spirit does not tell us what to do it only helps , the holy spirit is in all christians, the level will depend on your faith in God.
It is not possible to know. The Bible does not tell us. We do know that everyone who believes in Jesus as their Savior has been annointed by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that calls us through the Gospel in order that we might believe that Jesus Christ is Lord. The Holy Spirit keeps those who believe in Him, united with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. God sent His Holy Spirit to make Himself known to the whole world - that is, everyone! The Spirit calls people to tell them that we are God's children and He helps us to believe that God's Word is true.
The Holy Spirit IS Jesus and God. ( the trinity ) After Jesus was resurrected, God sent the Holy Spirit down to Earth so that we may have a relationship with him again.Another Answer:The power that sustains all things emanates from the current God Family - Father and Son - and can come into all who follow Jesus - this is their Holy Spirit:Romans 8:9New King James Version (NKJV) 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
He told them to go and make disciples.
Tell the girls that you WILL go to heaven (paradise) if you do believe in Christianity (which is the truth!) and tell them all the positives and how great God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are!
Jesus told his disciples on a couple of occasions to tell no man of what they had seen - as in - Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. (Matthew 16.20) And - And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. (Matthew 17.9)
I can't find anywhere in the NT where Jesus told his disciples to bring their first fruits
Actually it was Jesus that told the women to tell his disciples meet him in Galilee, (Matthew 28.10)
