because Gabe was going to be release
Jonas took Gabe with him because he wanted to protect him from being released from the community, which meant being killed. He also believed that Gabe had special qualities, such as the ability to see beyond, that made him valuable and worth saving.
Jonas takes the child Gabriel with him when he escapes. The baby boy was underweight and was scheduled to be "released." Jonas, who has learned the truth about "release," and has grown very attached to the child, refuses to let this happen.
the giver and Jonas plan is to get Jonas and gabe to escape without anyone that wasn't the plan. The plan was for Jonas to escape DURING the December ceremony, however, the plan got messed up when Jonas found out that Gabriel was going to be released, so he escaped before they could release him.
The Giver and Jonas' plan was to for Jonas to escape the community during the December Ceremony in a truck driving out of the community, but when Jonas learned that Gabe was going to be released, he decided to take him and escape that night, to save Gabe.
There is not really a cliffhanger just a very unclear ending that makes you think. The ending never specifies whether Jonas and Gabriel find elsewhere. It leaves you wondering if Jonas is slipping into a memory or if he as actually found Elsewhere.
Jonas gives people memories by running away so they can all go back to the community- for memories are forever. once he got memories, he has the ability to give them away to. he just followed what the giver did and gave some memories to Gabe.
Jonas breaks the rule and takes Gabriel to the home of the Giver because he believes that Gabriel is in danger of being released from the community due to his inability to sleep through the night. The Giver offers to take care of Gabriel and protect him from being released. Jonas's decision reflects his growing awareness of the flaws in the community and his desire to protect those he cares about.
Jonas lived. It is not perfectly clear as to what he saw at the end of the giver, but in the third book it mentions a "a leader who came to town on a red sled" and mentions Gabe, his little brother. Also in the new book, The Son, by Lois Lowry, it is the story of the real mother of Gabe, and it talks about what happened to him after he came back with Jonas.
During Jonas's stay with the Giver, he learned the truth about his community's memories, emotions, and the concept of sameness. This experience opened his eyes to the flaws in his society and the importance of individuality and memories. Jonas's time with the Giver ultimately inspired him to take action to bring change to his community.
When Jonas learns of a world beyond the community, he begins to question the values and norms that have been instilled in him. He experiences a range of emotions, from curiosity to disillusionment, as he grapples with the realization that the community is not as perfect as he once believed. This newfound knowledge ultimately drives him to take risks and challenge the status quo in order to bring about change.
The speaker is a person who regularly reminds the community of the laws by implying that a rule was broken without giving a name but the entire community already knows who it was. Just like when Jonas took the apple, a "reminder" was told to the community to not take food out of a specific place, but Jonas knew it was directed at him. Hope this helps anyone! -Vanessa
