He left to the land of Midian after he killed the Egyptian.
Abraham remarried, this time to a woman named Keturah. The children he had with her were: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. Joktan was the father of Sheba and Dedan. The descendants of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim and Leummim. The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. All these were sons of Keturah. Genesis 25: 1-4
Notice the name Midian in the verse. That was the common ancestor of the Midians. So these people were also Hebrews from the line of Abraham and Keturah. Moses sons were Hebrews from both sides.
So that they wouldn't be enslaved (Rashi commentary to Exodus ch.4).
God told Moses to go back to Egypt.
The Hebrew people were in slavery back in Egypt.

Moses was 40 years old when he ran from Egypt into the desert by himself and 80 when he returned back to Egypt. See Acts 7:23 and Acts 7:30.
Tracing a family tree requires documentation of the birth, marriage and children of individuals. Such documentation does not exist in unbroken line back to Moses, not even for prominent families such as ruling dynasties and scholars. Therefore it is impossible to trace your family tree to Moses.
The long journey during which Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and back to Canaan is known as the Exodus.
The first excuse Moses gave god, was that he could not speak as he had a stuttering problem. But god told him that his brother Aaron would do the talking for him.
Aaron was the companion of Moses when they came back to Egypt to set free the Israelites
