In 1657 by Cromwell.
After Oliver Cromwell's death, the power of the government was passed to his son, Richard Cromwell. However, after two year's of Richard's death, the people demanded the monarchy back and Charles II was reinstated as King of England.
You don't give a timespan, but there are synagogues dating back to the 1700s, and of course there is also the decree of 1657 issued by Oliver Cromwell readmitting Jews to England. The question is rather puzzling if it applies to the period since 1657 as nobody doubts that have been some Jews in England and Scotland since then.
The English Puritans weren't keen on celebrating Christmas, as they regarded it as a continuation of a pagan festival. The Puritans were in control from 1649-1660.puritansim not sure but i know king Charles the second brought it back
He bought back plays and Christmas, most of the fun things Oliver Cromwell banned, because he said it was sinful. " He was the King that bought back Partying"
After the English civil war, King Charles was accused of treason against the people of England. He was found guilty of this charge and was executed by having his head chopped off of his body. Oliver Cromwell than became head of the republic of England
After Oliver Cromwell died, the English people no longer had a ruler or leader. They extended an invitation to Charles II, son of Charles I, to return to England as King. They did have conditions, Charles II could not change the national religion from protestant to catholic.
Charles the first . The above does not answer the question. Charles I was executed in 1649 and England became a 'Commonwealth' under Oliver Cromwell. In 1660, Charles' son was invited back to England to become Charles II, England having become tired of the Commonwealth.
he left cambridge at the age of 17, after 1 year because his father died and cromwell had to go back to look after the farm.
After Oliver Cromwell died, England didn't have a leader and didn't have a law for selecting one. Rather than have another member of the Cromwell family succeed, thus setting up a new kind of hereditary monarchy, the English invited Charles II, who unfortunately and grown up at the French Court and learned all the wrong things there, to come back to England and assume the vacant throne.
If it's Oliver Cromwell then he fought king Charles I. Charles thought he could rule England by himself and believed in the Divine right of kings which means that he thought he was chosen by god to be king. after a few years of ruling without Parliament he was running out of money and asked Parliament to come back of coarse Parliament wasn't really happy. Charles was also a catholic he said he was a protestant but acted like a catholic and since England was a protestant country civil war was just waiting to happen. war was fought against the Cavaliers (Royalists) and the Round Heads (Parliament). Oliver Cromwell became in charge after a while and he was a puritan a super strict protestant and that was when Charles was really in trouble because before Oliver Cromwell was in charge if Parliament they would have probably banished him but of coarse Cromwell had him beheaded. Of coarse when he died England was so fed up with the rules of the puritans they wanted a king back so Charles II came to the throne in the restoration and he was known as the Merry Monarch. Hope this helped.
