Revere was on the road to Lexington/Concord when he was stopped by a British patrol. He was enroute to warn Sam Adams and others that the British had landed in Charlestown and were enroute to collect/find any guns or powder. Since he was on the road after curfew he was stopped and arrested. As this was going on Prescott and Dawes came by, saw what was happening and kept going to Concord.
Paul Revere was captured because he was the first to warn John Hancock and Sam Adams the British were coming along with most of massachussetts. The British soldiers were their to apprehend Hancock and Adams and they were also told to disarm the population of Boston while ther. He was captured during his midnight ride in April of 1775. He was captured by 4 red coats in a little town outside of Boston. William Dawes a friend of Paul Revere finished the midnight ride successfully.
