When the Germans sunk the ocean liner Lusitania with Americans on board, especially Mr. Vanderbilt, the Americans and President Wilson were incensed. This led the Congress and President Wilson to declare war on Germany. Many Americans regretted this decision after the war.

He had the first effective draft of 1917, set up the War Industries Board, and urged Congress to pass the Lever Act. He helped to create the Fourteen Points, which included the League of Nations (the model of the United Nations) and the Treaty of Versailles.

I might not be right but I do remember something about president hoover creating the federal farm board to raise the prices on farm goods. I may be wrong though it was a long time ago
