Paul compares the church to a body by saying that each part of the human body carries out a specific function and that they also all work together to make a completely working body. For the church, we all have certain roles (believe it or not) that we carry out and together as the "Body of Christ" we shall be united and build each other up.
Paul said we are the body of Christ.
Loli dontknowThe Apostle Paul described the church as the Body of Christ. Christ being the Head. There are many Scriptures pertaining to this fact. Colossians 1:18, "And He (Christ) is the head of the body, the church........"

The NT doesn't compare the local church (the church you go to) with a body. But it does compare the universal church (all believers in Christ) to a body. The universal church is like a body because it is made up of many parts (believers). These parts should function in harmony together - just as the many parts of a body function together. No part is more important than another part. Every part has a function.Just as a head leads/controls a body, Christ is the head of the universal church.Comment: Just what do you mean by universal as a mainstream church carries this as part of its name? The Bible calls the Church Jesus established, 'the Church of God,' in about 12 places in the N.T.. Is this your 'universal' Church?? This Church, by the way, has always had the 'little flock.'
There is no specific patron saint of hemorrhoids in the Catholic Church. However, some people may seek the intercession of Saint Fiacre, who is considered the patron saint of healing and ailments related to the body.

Saint Paul was not canonized. He was proclaimed a saint by earlyChristians because of his martyrdom. The canonization process did notcome into existence until the 12th century. In the primitive Church, martyrs were immediately recognized as witnessing to the perfection ofChristian life on earth, having shown the ultimate proof of their love forChrist by the offering of their lives. By the sacrifice of their livesfor Christ, they attained Heaven in eternal glory and were indissolublyunited to the Lord, the Head of the Mystical Body.

St. Paul, Apostle to the Gentiles, died long before the canonization process had been instituted. He was proclaimed a saint by popular acclamation. He is what is called a "pre-congregational" saint.
