Adams was not directly involved. The Son's of Liberty were organized and supported by two of the biggest smugglers in the colonies. They were Hancock and Hamilton and they were involved in smuggling items into the colonies. One of those was Dutch tea and until the British started tinkering with the price of tea they were doing very well, but the tax on the British tea was LOWERED so this made the price of the Dutch tea HIGHER. So, they arranged to have the boxes of tea thrown into Boston Harbor. This was an economic issue and not a political one and it makes sense when you think about it.
He dumped the tea because they were paying for it.The taxes were way to high during that time. This event was called The Boston Tea Party.

The Boston Tea Party was held in Boston Harbour because that was where the Americans, (commanded by Samuel Adams told them to dress themselves as Mohawk Indians) had to throw 342 chests of tea into the water. The 342 chests of tea were in the tea ships which were anchored at Boston Harbour.
Samuel Adams goal for the Boston tea party was for the British to take the tax off the tea.
