What kept the U.S. from sttopping Stalins efforts to take over eastern Europe?

1. The Soviet military was powerful, and another confrontation in Europe wasn't eactly what the Western Allies wanted. 2. The Soviet Union had lost so many soldiers in WWII compared to the US and Great Britain, it put them in a favourable position during negotiations, since the Soviets had sacrificed so much, they could claim big parts of Europe during talks with the other Allies. 3. The U.S., at least during the Roosevelt administration, trusted Stalin to a great degree, Roosevelt believed that Communism could develop into a positive direction, later Presidents had a totally different view however.
