there was no reason other than the ammount of land that they held. also it was not the spanish it was the spanish mexicans. cortes once he kill the aztecs and any other first nation people moved into the area of North America while the spanish enhabited south america

well Louisiana belonged to France and Mexico belonged to Spain, so the Texas region was undefined so Spain wanted to take it over and show power over France
