I am not quite sure if you are referring to the American Revolution or the War of 1812, but since you stated "US" as in United States, it must be the War of 1812 since the U.S. was not yet established during the Revolutionary War. The United States was a particularly new-born nation, with little respect from the surrounding nations, the more established nations. After the American Revolution, there were still great tensions between Britain and the infant America. Britain could be compared to a bully during this period. Hence why this war is considered the "Second War for Independence". The main causes of the war were the impressment of American seamen by the Royal Navy, Britain's attempt at suppressing American trade, and America's desire to expand its territory.

Um, nothing. That year the United States was in the Spanish-American War.
In order to keep from going back to war, the US and Great Britain had to get along. So, this increased the cooperation between the two countries, since they did not want to go back to war.

The big issue was foreign relations with France and Britain. Both interfered with US trade. A trade agreement was reached with France to the exclusion of trade with Britain. Britain had harassed the US since the Revolutionary War. The US military had grown stronger and there was a move to go to war with Britain. Eventually, Madison asked for a declaration of war against Britain. The War of 1812 became Madison's main concern.
Britain went to war because of a mutual treaty between Britain and Poland.
