The epistemological problem of the African world view is only a problem to people who are not Africans themselves. To say that there is a problem is to be unAfrican. What the Africans believe as knowledge is not disputed by Africans because they are of the same epistemology. What the question presupposes is that African knowledge differ from knowledge of other races. Africans know what they know as culture inherited from generation to generation. There is no nation on earth which has not received anything from its ancestors. The fact that Africans continue to live by the knowledge inherited from past generations is proof that their knowledge has no problem. If it had a problem the African race would be extinct.
What J W Goethe meant by this quote is probably this: If the enslaved are aware of the fact that they are enslaved, the system is practically unsustainable and there are many good examples in history. The enslaved have strong incentive to rise against their slavers and the slavers have to guard them 24/7. There are big expenses for the slavers just to keep the slaves calm and the system has to break sooner or later. But if the enslaved believe they are free, they have no reason to rise against the slavers, since they don't know there are any slavers at all. Thus the slavers don't have to worry about their safety and all they need to do is to make sure the slaves still think they are free. Such a system is sustainable for eternity. Therefore the people are "more hopelessly enslaved", because there is no hope to be set free. As an example, we can take a dictatorship-like Cuba or Iran-and a democracy-like the USA or Germany. In Cuba, most people are angry and hate Fidel Castro, because they are aware of the fact that they are enslaved. People try to escape from Cuba and there were many attempts to kill Castro. This is clearly unsustainable, the communist government will cease to exist sooner or later. In democratic states, on the other hand, people believe they are free. The slavers strenghten this feeling by setting up "elections" (which makes the people believe they can change something), comparing themselves to dictatorships, dragging people's minds to different problems through media etc. When you look at reality, you can see that democracies have no problem with upkeeping the system.
You have not stated any problem.
The main problem is that it isn't there.
Critical thinking is essential to problem solving. Before you can devise a solution to a problem, you must identify the problem. Identifying the problem is the first step in the critical thinking model.

One problem faced by planters in the Southern US was that long-staple cotton could only be grown along the Carolina & Georgia coast (hence "sea island" cotton). Weather could be a problem also, wet needed for planting seeds, dry for harvest.
They didn't fail; it wasn't a problem at the time. Slavery had been such a common practice around the world for so long. Egyptians enslaved Jews centuries ago. Europeans enslaved Native Americans when they first arrived, and when Africans were enslaved in the states, even the African rulers supported this trading.

One reason plantations were so large was the planters rotated fields and the crops they planted. They would let a field lie fallow for a set time and then plant a crop that would add minerals into the soil. Not only was tobacco hard on the soil, but so was cotton.
It had no Bill of Rights
It can be planted at anytime. Growing and maturing is the problem.
