Winnie felt like running away because she felt like she always had to be the center of attention between her grandma and mother. She also felt that she couldn't be herself around her folks. So in conclusion Winnie just wants to be independent besides someone else making her decisions.
Because everything at Winnie's house has to be perfect, there are no mess-ups. And Winnie is tired of that. Not to mention that she thought the toad thought she wouldn't do it. :) Hope this helped!

Tuck said "Good girl" in Tuck Everlasting to encourage Winnie to do the right thing by keeping the secret of the spring and not running away from her responsibilities. It was a way for Tuck to show his appreciation and support for Winnie's courage and maturity in handling a difficult situation.
Winnie is drawn to the woods in "Tuck Everlasting" because she is curious and seeking adventure. She desires to explore beyond the boundaries set by her strict family, and the freedom and independence that the woods offer attract her.
