Best Answer

The Ancient Egyptians used the plentiful river Nile to expand. Every year the river flooded leaving the land alongside it covered in new, rich, fertile soil. This meant they had good crops and were able to feed their population and trade with other kingdoms allowing them to build up a great wealth so they could build and expand.

It had two motives - to gain a buffer border in Syria-Palestine against

Hittites and other invaders, and to exploit that western part of the Fertile Crescent for the resources lacking in Egypt. After the arrival and death of Alexander the great, his general Ptolemy established himself as Pharoah and expanded his influence northwards in competition with the other generals establishing their own kingdoms in the Middle East. This lasted until Rome turned it into a province.

How did internal problems in Egypt benefit Kush?

Kush and Egypt were rival countries, both trying to expand their power and influence at the other's expense. As a result, internal problems in Egypt meant that Egyptians would be less able to project power outwards and this would allow Kush to become more powerful. Eventually, Kush was able to conquer Egypt for nearly 100 years in what Egyptologists call the 25th Dynasty.
