∙ 14y agoSteps of Mummification: 1. First a long hook was inserted through the nose to draw out the brain. 2. An incision was then made on the abdomen to remove all major internal organs. The heart was left in to supposedly be weighed in the afterlife. 3. The body was then washed out with palm wine and filled with spices and sawdust, then sewn up again. 4. The body was then covered in a salt called natron for 70 days to dry out the body so that no further decay could occur.
