The Mayans believed that the best people should be given to the Gods to show that they were still devoted. They also believed that the Blood was what the Gods wanted. if a King gave his blood it was thought to make a link with the Gods, and so the people followed their leader and gave their blood as well

I hope this helps

well the mayans believed that the world was divided in eras. each era ended with the destruction of the world and then a new era would begin with its creation again. in one of this eras, when the world was created for one more time the Mayan gods needed a god to be sacrificed in order to become the sun. The god that had promised to do that however refused to do it making everyone else furious with him. so when all the other gods were trying to persuade him the king of gods, lit a fire and jumped in it, sacrificing himself and thus, creating the sun. when the other god saw that and saw how courageous the king of gods was he jumped in the fire trying to appear as brave and strong, thus creating the moon. however, there was a slight problem....

the sun and the moon would'NT move. so the gods created the humans and ordered to them to sacrifice people for the moon and the sun to continue moving around the world.

As far as i know the Egyptian did really use human sacrifice as we typically think of it. Some evidence exists that there may have been some before the Dynastic period. But then it was given up for the rest of Egyptian history as we know it. That's not to say that they didn't kill political prisoners, and prisoners of war.But it wasn'T scarifice to their Gods as we typically see "human sacrifice" pertaining to the belief that the Gods demanded it. It would be like saying the U.S practices human sacrifice every time we kill some one on death row or in a war.Which of course is debatable! lol

As far as archeologists can tell; the Ancient Egyptians didn't do human sacrifice. The Ancient Egyptian gods DIDN'T get angry at them and demand human sacrifice. The gods did accept offerings such as milk, honey and grain. There is no archeological evidence to suggest that the ancient Egyptians did human sacrifice.

A long cord was then fastened round the body of each victim, and the moment the smoke ceased to rise from the altar, all were hurled into the gulf. The crowd, which had gathered from every part of the country to see the sacrifice, immediately drew back from the brink of the pit and continued to pray without cessation for some time. The bodies were then drawn up and buried in the neighboring grove.
