Scientists are still exploring the possibility that there is some kind of microscopic life on Mars, but certainly there is no life on Mars that we have been able to see so far, in our various missions to that planet. I personally am very doubtful that any native life will ever be found on Mars. Of course, we may go there and introduce life to Mars.
There are a number of reasons. Just like astronomers can see both Mars and Jupiter in a telescope, they would be able to see a planet between them. Also, using both visual and radio telescopes, they can and do track hundreds of asteroids in the asteroid belt. They can also tell by the way Mars and Jupiter behave in their own orbits. An entire planet's gravity would effect the orbits of both planets to a much greater extent than thousands of rocks.
There is a video on YouTube about it. If you look behind a rock, you'll see something. Possibly yes. Unlikely no. See the related link. There may be microbes that produce methane but its very very very very unlikely. There are no know life forms on Mars.
One of the best places for one to find images of Mars is on the NASA website. NASA has had numerous unmanned missions to Mars and has a vast collection of pictures of the planet. The latest such mission is the Mars Curiosity Rover.
Me. But on a serious note, there are many scientists and I do not know all of them, there are too many to name. It is not just one scientist and many do. Also it is not simply claiming the "is" life, but seeing if there is. Nobody knows for sure, we just want to know and see if there is.

It was invented by astronomers to help find a chemical in rocks to see is water existed on mars. the date isn't exact, but around 1960-1980.
It is a rover that Nasa created to analyse Mars: To see if there was or is any water there, to see if life could be sustainable for human beings on mars, and to see if life did or does exist.
To see if Human life can live in it because the world is becoming over the population limit.

On mars it is hard to believe but there is a form of bacteria on planet Mars scientists are still trying to figure out if there might be other forms of life on Mars so in the 2018 scientist will send a spaceship there to see really close for et on Mars.

The atmosphere distorts the things we see in the sky. Astronomers want a clear view above the water laden atmosphere so it will be more accurate.
