He, along with Midge Ure, wrote a pop song: 'Do they know it's Christmas?' it was sung by Band Aid & led to the Live Aid concerts. He was, quite rightly, given an honourary knighthood, if for nothing else, trying to make a difference.

he's showed people how to chill and be chill.

My answer:

I think he made his biggest impact by 'speaking for the oppressed peoples of the world'. Through song, he expressed to people what it was like to be suppressed by others, as a black man. He reminded people that slavery still wasn't completely dead in this world. Though black people weren't in actualchains anymore, governments and the 'ruling' class of people were still oppressing people, keeping the poor from escaping their poverty, and maintaining laws that kept the people from having any real freedom, like most people get to have in America.

There are more things he did through his life; look up documentaries on YouTube for more...

Who is He?

He was born 5 October 1951. Geldof is recognised for his activism, especially against anti-poverty in Africa.

Band Aid

In 1985 Bob and Midge Ure wrote "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in order to raise money for starving Ethiopians. The song was recorded by various famous artists under the name of Band Aid.

Make Poverty History

The Make Poverty History campaign is a campaign to give better aid to people who live in Africa and to free the debts of Africa, because otherwise it would never be able to move on as a country.

Live 8

Live 8 was a string of concerts that took place on 2 July 2005 to raise money for hungry Ethiopians 20 years after the Band Aid. It was a success!

G8 Summit

The G8 summit is a meeting that takes place every year. The leaders of the 8 most important countries meet there to discuss problems like pollution.

Bob and the Summit

Bob sent round an email campaign for people to add their name on. In the end he got millions to sign it, even my teacher.
