The towers on early castles were square until it was realised that incoming projectiles, rocks from catapults and cannon balls did considerable damage where ever they hit the towers. To reduce the damage it was reasoned that round towers would only suffer major damage if struck in the middle. Shot striking off-centre would have some of the force, and hopefully the ball or rock, deflected. This turned out to be the case.
Because round towers were much more useful than the original square towers. As used in the siege of Rochester castle, square towers could be undermined, but round towers couldn't as there were no corners. Round towers also deflected projectiles and thrown objects.
Because round ones couldn't be climbed on like the square ones.
Because it was then harder for enemies to invade.
Because it would of been harder for the enemy to climb!!!
The rounded are the best as they are able to deflect arrows.
Motte and bailey castles were madde from wood so they were easy to make in any shape but when the castles ere made out of stone it is easier to make them squaer
cause they do
Projection towers on castles are called a Buttress.
The defences of a concentric castle were round towers - It was harder for attackers to make round towers collapse. Unlike square towers they had no corners, which collapsed if holes were dug underneath the foundations.

William defended his castles by making several walls and towers. Archers were placed on the walls and towers so they could shoot enemies as they came in.
As an offense to see if invaders were coming
