∙ 8y agoThe Eighteenth Amendment to the US Constitution was very vague, prohibiting the "manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors." The Volstead Act specified what types of alcohol were prohibited under the Eighteenth Amendment. Sacramental wine used for religious ceremonies and medical alcohol were not prohibited under the Volstead Act, and the US saw a rapid rise in the number of priests, rabbis, and doctors.
