Best Answer

to find more work so they could get money and survive. The Dust Bowl occured during the same time, which affected many farmers and farm workers in the Southern Plains. California still had many crops to grow and fields to work in, so many of these farmers migrated from Kansas, Oklahoma, etc, to California to continue their jobs of farming.

Farmers moved west after a Dust storm which forced them to burn their crops, and sell their land. Mostly all the farmers migrated to California.
