The architect Senmut designed the temple with rows of colonnades that reflect vertical patterns displayed by the cliff backdrop. In this way the temple is a successful example of architectural harmony between man and nature. A ramp connects the three levels of the temple, and on either side of the lower end of the incline were T-shaped papyrus pools. On the ground level the ramp was in antiquity lined with 200 sandstone statues of sphinxes with Hatshepsut's head. The third level is decorated with 22 life size statues featuring Hatshepsut in the Osirde shape. It was a matter of fashion.

When did hatshepsut become regent?

After tutmoses 11 died, tutmoses 111 was too young to rule. She put on the fake beard and ruled as a man and she was good at that. Since Thutmose III was too young to assume the throne unaided, Hatshepsut served as his regent. Initially, Hatshepsut bore this role traditionally until, for reasons that are unclear, she claimed the role of pharaoh. Technically, Hatshepsut did not 'usurp' the crown, as Thutmose the III was never deposed and was considered co-ruler throughout her life, but it is clear that Hatshepsut was the principal ruler in power. He was her nephew.

Why did hatshepsut disguised her self?

What is hatshepsut's last name?

Hatshepsut's first name was Hitherto, and her last name was Hatshepsut. This is believed to have been her name throughout her life and rule. Other ancient Egyptian words have been put before and after her name a signs of royalty, but Hitherto Hatshepsut is most likely to be her maiden name.
