To clear the way for his third marriage which would produce an heir whose legitimacy would not be questioned
By "he", I assume you mean Henry VIII, who Anne Boleyn was married to. Henry wanted a son, to be king after him, and when Anne had a baby he was very excited, thinking he would finally have an heir. Imagine his disappointment when it turned out to be a girl - Elizabeth, who would later become Queen Elizabeth I. However, Henry didn't know this. All he knew was that women were the weaker sex, and that he wanted the next ruler of England to be strong. To him, that meant a boy.
Anne couldn't give Henry the son he wanted, so he needed to get her out of the way and marry someone who could. So he pretended she'd been cheating on him with some noblemen, and had her executed. This left him free to marry Jane Seymour, who would later give birth to his son, Edward.
Henry VIII beheaded Anne Boleyn because he believed that she was an adultress, sleeping with six men - Thomas Wyatt, Mark Smeaton, Henry Norris, Francis Weston, William Brereton and her brother, George Boleyn. This accusation of incest caused the King to accuse her of witchcraft, along with the incidence where she give birth to a 'deformed' child.
She was accused of treasonous adultery; that is, adultery and also incest with her Brother George, neither of which has been proved. Henry had grown tired of Anne as she could not give him a son and he had fell in love with Jan Seymour
She was beheaded.
